Things To Do In Elk Creek Arizona

Elk Creek, AZ is a small town with a lot of natural beauty and history. There are many fun things to do near Elk Creek that are perfect for families. Here are a few things to do while you’re here.

Slide Rock State Park

Slide Rock State Park is located on the eastern edge of Sedona, off Highway 89A. It’s open year-round, 24 hours a day. The park is free to use for everyone (including pets), but there is a small fee for parking and camping. The park offers several different hiking trails that range from easy to difficult; there are also areas specifically designated for picnicking and swimming in the creek.

The main attraction at Slide Rock State Park is its namesake—a 100-foot long natural rock slide that allows visitors to slide into the beautiful Oak Creek below while hiking or swimming in the water (both activities are permitted). On hot summer days, this refreshing dip can be quite tempting!

Sedona

Sedona is a popular tourist destination in Arizona and has been featured in many movies, including the famous movie starring Tom Hanks, “Forrest Gump.” If you are looking for some great hiking trails then Sedona is the place to go. The red rocks offer beautiful views and it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most popular places to visit in Arizona. There are also many art galleries and shops located throughout town, so if you’re looking for some unique gifts this would be a great stop!

Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village

Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village, located in Sedona, Arizona, is the perfect place to shop for unique gifts. The village is modeled after a real Mexican town with cobblestone streets and handmade shops. While you’re there, enjoy some of their great restaurants as well!

Old Silver Mine

The Handmade Market at Tlaquepaque Artes y Oficios Village is a must-see while visiting Sedona. You’ll find everything from furniture to jewelry to clothing in this marketplace made up of local artisans who handcraft each item themselves. If you’re looking for something specific but don’t know where to start browsing through all the options available here—you’re in luck! There are also plenty of talented artists willing to create something custom-made just for you (so long as it’s within reason). They’ll even help design your piece according to whatever specifications you need or want included before starting on their creation together.”

Chapel of the Holy Cross

If you’re a fan of unique architecture and want to experience something different in Sedona, the Chapel of the Holy Cross is worth checking out. This Catholic chapel was built by Marguerite Brunswig Staude, who also founded Sacred Space Museum. It’s famous for its distinctive design that includes thousands of hand-carved stones from Jerusalem and Rome. The interior features a modern twist on traditional stained glass windows with artistic depictions of Bible stories set against backdrops that mimic nature scenes—a beautiful combination!

Bell Rock

There are a number of beautiful places to visit in Sedona, but Bell Rock stands out as one of the most well known. It is an enormous monolith that rises above the red rocks around it. The formation can be seen from miles away due to its distinctive bell shape when viewed from certain angles. Bell Rock was named by early settlers who thought it resembled a church bell, although there is no evidence that this was meant to be an actual church tower or steeple of any sort.

Devil’s Bridge Trail

The Devil’s Bridge Trail is a short, easy hike in Sedona. It’s only 2.2 miles long and starts at the end of Forest Road 172A. The trailhead is just east of the bridge itself with plenty of parking available on both sides of the road. It’s a good option for families with children because it has lots of shade from trees along its entire path and can easily be completed in under an hour by most people (including those who are not hikers).

  • Note: There are no bathrooms at this trailhead; however there are restrooms at nearby Dry Creek Campground if you need them!
